Joel assumes the role as the leader of the trio. She is typically the one making plans and bossing the other two around, but still chooses to assist Phil and Elly with things like patrols, training etc.
Background
At the very start of Rya's apocalyptic takeover, Joel had planned an attack inside the city in an attempt to fend her off and away from the others. This ultimately failed, as Joel had not planned efficiently enough. She'd risked losing his life in the flames of the city, Phil had rescued her from the city as it burned. This had taught him the harsh reality of the events now unfolding, as the years pass by, Joel slowly devolved into what can only be described as a more unstable state of self. While still retaining her stubbornness and eccentricity, Joel had grown to be more erratic and have more violent tendencies.
Despite this, Joel still seems to have a close relationship with Phil and Elly. Though she can come off as odd or as a lunatic to the two, it's still clear to them he loves them regardless of the condition she is in.
Trivia
- Trained by Elly to have a few medical skills. What she uses this information for usually tailors to his more grisly interests such as dissection.
- Hardly sleeps, frequently spends her days and nights awake but after a week or so has probably a full day of sleep.
- Loves sweets, has bad molars due to eating so many.
- Smoker, does it more than Phil but occasionally shares with him.
- She also enjoys climbing around the city ruins, often trying to get as high as he can.
